***Lists, Lists, Lists, and other Articles for your enjoyment

Lists, Lists, Lists

Although everyone is probably tired of lists, this is the best time of the year to choose what you want in your life.

The lists you have had to make in the last few months were long and thought provoking. You had the Christmas or holiday gift list, hostess gift list, party invitational list, food for the holidays list, the where I have to be list, and the list that covered whatever you might have forgotten to include on the other lists.

The best way to start a list about what you want in your life is to take inventory of what you already have in your life.

Start where you are and look around:

·       Spouse or no spouse

·       children

·       time with the children

·       job

·       home

·       friends

·       hair color, etc.

List everything you see.

Then ask yourself these questions about each one of the items on your list:

·       What do I value about them?

·       What don’t I value about them or what isn’t perfect yet?

·       How does that reflect on me or what does that say about me?

·       What am I willing to change or how am I willing to be different?

Here’s an example:

·       In my job, I like that I have freedom to set my own schedule.

·       I don’t like that I spend too much time doing repetitive set up work and looking for phone numbers and addresses.

·       This problem says that I don’t spend the time at first contact with a client to complete the initial paper work.

·       I am willing to give up always being in too big of a hurry to complete the paper work. I am willing to have index cards and pens at every phone, computer, and desk so I can organize the information once.

Now you have gone though your whole list of items and found what you are willing to do about each situation. Your list looks something like this:

1.    buy pens and index cards

2.    place the pens and cards at each telephone and computer

3.    nothing – because in some cases you know you are not willing to change anything

4.    schedule a massage once a month

5.    have a birthday party

6.    visit with your sister

7.    enjoy time with friends

8.    replace the curtains in the kitchen

9.    go on a cruise

This is what is called a ‘to do’ and it sounds like work and feels like ‘have to’. Yuck!

Let’s change this list into a fun, fantasy day dream that includes excitement and mystery.

Go back over the list and visualize all the projects as if they were completed – the end result.

Start with seeing all the pens and cards at each phone and computer or better yet all your contacts or clients information completed in the rolodex while you are enjoying some free time doing nothing.

1. Clients information neatly at hand

2. Enjoying free time

Then move into the enjoyment of the massage, feeling your favorite masseuse massaging your back while you’re listening to mystical music in perfect peace and harmony.

3. Enjoy regular massages

Next feel the excitement as your friends and family enjoy celebrating your birthday and allow them to show you how much they cherish you.

4. Accept Love from friends and family

5. Enjoy my Birthday

Continue feeling uplifted as you dance around your kitchen with its new curtains adding life to the area.

6. Have bright new curtains hanging in the kitchen

Then keep your feet dancing and the enthusiasm high as you see, hear, and feel yourself on the deck of that glorious cruise ship.

7. Dance under the stars while on a Cruise with loving spouse

You might be wondering, what is so mysterious about this day dream? The mystery part of this experience is to see how all these items come to you. That’s right, you have switched your ‘having to do list’ to you watching how the items on your list show up.

So won’t you be surprised when your sister shows up with a group of partiers to celebrate your birthday and her present to you is a Caribbean cruise.

A critical step in this exercise is to celebrate as you cross off each item on your list as it appears in your possession.

After taking the ‘Re-Creating Your Life’ course that I instruct, many clients call me on the phone and say ‘You won’t believe what just happened!’ Of course I believe it but they didn’t believe it until it showed up in living color on their doorstep.
